The elderly seem to be having their tea break. The man in the middle of the picture looks like an external instructor who is trained to do simply activities with the elderly which will not tire them out. As seen in the picture, the elderly are all actively participating and following the hand actions that the man is doing. The elderly would probably find this activity interesting because it may be their first time trying out. By conducting these activities, the old folks will stay active and they will not feel lonely because of the great company around them.

Conversation
2. Yes, i do agree that some people worry too much about things. What's the use of getting worried unnesscessarily? It'll only add on to your stress level and workload. Some people even turn lunatic when they worry too much unnesscessarily. Worrying too much really drives people mad. Some things that make me worry are things like exams/schoolwork, friendships, family problems and such. Sometimes it's really no use worrying, but on the other hand, it is also inevitable. In order to take their mind off worrying stuffs, people can occupy themselves with activities or take up some courses so that they will concentrate on what they are doing and will not think too much, much less have the time to worry about other things.

Oral Day 8

Picture Discussion
This picture depicts a scene of an open field play area outside a kindergarten. This may be their break time and they are playing games. Even their teachers are sporting enough to play with them. The children are split into different groups and they seem to be lining up one after another, with the teacher as the front person. It seems like they are playing the game "Eagle catching the little chickens". They are having a whale of a time. and definitely enjoying themselves to the fullest. After this activity, i think the children might go back inside and shower before taking a nap to cool themselves down and have a short rest after the tiring activity they just had.

Conversation
2. Some of the difficulties faced by women wishing to pursue a career and have a family is that they do not know how to juggle both at the same time, hence leaving them all stressed out. Thus, women nowadays prefer to focus on their career first before settling down to start a family. It might be too stressful for those who are not able to take it. In the day, you receive stress from work. At night, you still have to go home and take care of the family, both young and old. It might turn into a chore. Employers can help these women by giving them incentives, for example give them more days off as pay leave so that they can better manage their time, have a more balanced lifestyle and not neglect their family at the same time. Working from home has both its pros and cons. The advantages are that it is convenient, because you do not have to travel all the way to and back from workplace everyday. However, the disadvantages are that it is not good cooping yourself up at home. In the long run, you might become anti-social because you work alone, and you do not even interact with your colleagues and such.

Oral Day 6

Picture Discussion
This picture depicts a scene at an open air sports stadium. It's probably a sports day school event held there. In the foreground, 4 girls in school uniform are cheering their hearts out. They're probably cheering for their classmates and schoolmates who are taking part in a certain event or race. They seem very enthusiastic and in high spirtis, their schoolmates might have won the race, hence their expression. Behind them are several guys sitting along the race track. They look like athletes who have just finished their race and are cooling down and taking a rest. In the foreground, there are several students who act as audience and are the to give moral support to the athletes as well as root for their schoolmates.

Conversation
2. I think everyone can learn to be good at sport. When there's a will, there's always a way. It's all up to one's determination and willpower. Some people are better at sport than other people because they are more detemined to learn that sport and do well in that area, hence they put in more effort to achieve their goal. Or simply because they are born sporty or they just love the sport. When you enjoy dong something, you'll generally excel in that area. I feel that it is not very fair to say that men are better at sport then women. It's true that more men are born to be more sporty than women. But being sporty an also be bred in women right? If men are better at sport than women, then why do we still have sportswomen? It is only fair to say that both gender are equally sporty.

Oral Day 4

Picture Discussion
This picture shows a disabled man being pushed up onto a bus, with the bus driver lending a helping hand. Some of the people surrounding the disabled man are wearing the same t-shirts and tags hung around their necks. They are probably from a certain organisation and the t-shirts and tags are for better identification. Another lady behind is also in a wheelchair, waiting to be pushed up onto the bus. This might be an activity organised for the disabled so that they will not feel bored or lonely. I think the abled people feel sorry for the unfortuante as they look troubled and worried. However, the disabled lady does not think the same way. Although disabled, she is still happy and wants to live her life to the fullest happily. I think that is the right attitude towards life. The bus should set off for their fun-filled day of activities after everyone hops onto the bus.

Conversation
2. I feel that protecting natural habitats and looking after wildlife is very important. It isn't a choice, much of a neccessity. Wildlife are also living things. If we as human beings can have a comfortable house to live in, why can't wildlife be given the same rights? I feel that we are destroying nature to very large extent, and it's becoming more prominent through deforestation and such. The houses we live in doesn't get destroyed, why should their habitats get destroyed? Living them with no home to live in, and eventually their species get extinct. It isn't fair to them. With urbanization, more cities are being developed, destroying nature at the same time. Developing new cities and keeping up with the times is important, conserving nature is a also important. We shouldn't sacrifice one for the other. If a piece of land i needed to be taken away to develop new cities, i feel that another piece of land should be created somewhere esle so that wildlife will continue to have a place to live, and their species would not get extinct at the same time.

Oral Day 2

Picture Discussion
This picture depicts a hair dressing salon. It is probably a special room in the hairdressing salon for the trainees. The people in the picture look like trainees because they are trimming hair for fake mannequins and not real people. The ladies on the left of the picture are trimming hair for the female mannequins while the other ladies on the right of the picture are trimming hair for the male mannequins. They are probably trained in different profession. I think the trainees are happy to learn the new skill because of the happy looks on their faces. They are grinning from ear to ear. There are several hair clips and a bottle of hair conditioner on the table. These things are probably essential for this field of profession. These trainees look like they'll be professional hairdressers in the future.

Conversation
1. My favourite hairstyle is that of silky long hair with probably a bit of curls at the ends with a slight highlight of brown colour, with a side fringe. It may be a common hairstyle for youngsters these days but i guess this hairstyle suits me best. I will not get use to seeing myself in another hairstyle. I like going to the hairdresser provided that the hairdresser would give a good haircut or a trim and not give me a hairstyle that does not suit me at all. Sometimes if i were to stumble upon one hairdressing salon that happened to give me a bad haircut, i would usually have a bad impression of that hairdresser and would never ever go back there again for my next haircut. Hairstyles are very important to us as individuals. After all, your hair belongs to you, and no one else. It all depends on you what type of hairstyle you want, and whether you feel and look comfortable in it.

Week 10 Journal.

Mary and Jane were very close sisters with disparate personalities. This investigation then eventuated in a comprehensive report. Then we had to do many experiments to see which was the most viable method. We even had to think of new innovative ideas in order to subjugate our rivals. At first, we were incredulous about our chances of winning. Nothing is impossible. To me, a language is a skill that has to be acquired over time. No amount of tuition will help you to improve if you yourself don't work hard.
Basically, some effective ways of improving your english learning skills is through knowing your capacity to learn, your interest, and knowledge of what you wish to learn. You must first be motivated and interested to learn and not give up easily.
Some ways of improving one's english skills is by doing your homework and handing them in on time, reading different genres of english books regularly, make it a point to read the newspaper everyday and take note of new words and their meanings, so you learn new words everyday as you go along. You can also watch the news through the television.
In conclusion, there are a thousand and one ways to improve one's english skills, but it is all up to the individual whether he/she is willing to learn and to apply the skills effectively.

My new class :) (Week 12 Journal)

3 Loyalty!
This class has been great so far.
At first, i was quite timorous, wondering what sort of people i would meet. Well, making new friends sure are an integral part being in a new class, right?

School. (Week 11 Journal)

It's only the end of the 2nd week of term 1, but sec 3 life has been really hectic so far. Everyday, teachers inundate us with homework and more homework. Never is there a day without homework! With more workload on our hands, we cannot afford to be lax when it come to serious work. Teachers do like students with meticulous work, don't they? We should obviate all our television programmes, computer games, shopping trips etc and fully concentrate on studies now. Studying should be done willingly, and not coerced.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://from-underneath.blogspot.com/2009/01/school.html' title='School.
